653 Sherman St, West Chicago Rehab Project

Expired

Description

Rehab home projects are great opportunities for DuPage Habitat to purchase existing housing stock and renovate them to meet our standards for both quality assurance and affordability, allowing us to serve more families and improve the overall housing stock in our communities.

Volunteer day activities can include anything it takes to rehab a home from start to finish. Typical volunteer activities include framing, siding, painting, roofing, laying flooring, hanging doors or windows, trim work, finishing, landscaping, demolition, and cleaning. No construction experience is necessary. In fact, most of our volunteers are brand-new to the world of home construction! Simply come ready to learn and Habitat construction staff will guide you from there. We mean it when we say – every single task is critical for the success of our mission.

Habitat provides all the tools, building materials, and training for you; no construction experience is needed.

The minimum age to volunteer is 16 years old. Any volunteer under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. All minors signing up will be prompted to provide their legal guardian's name and email address for a waiver to be sent for them to electronically sign. Once signed, the minor can finish registering for their volunteer shift.
