Habitat ReStore volunteers bring new skills and build capacity to help provide discounted building materials and home goods to the community. DuPage Habitat for Humanity uses funds raised by ReStore to help families build, rehabilitate and repair homes. By giving your time and talents, you help the Addison ReStore do more to support homebuilding projects that benefit families in the area.
As a Donation Pick-Up Assistant, you will ride along with the truck driver to help pick up donations for the Addison ReStore. The truck leaves from the Addison ReStore each day. Typically, the driver is out between the hours of 9 AM and 3 PM. Occasionally, the arrival time back at the store may differ depending on the schedule for the day. Please wear close-toed shoes.
Responsibilities:
- Ride in the truck to various location through DuPage County to pick up donations
- Help driver load donations into the truck
- Assist with unloading donations upon return to the store
- Learn about Habitat and be able to provide donors with additional information about the organization and stores
- Must be able to lift heavy objects with one other person (furniture, building materials, etc.) while utilizing available tools (hand truck, dollies, tie-down straps, etc.) for safety and ease of transport
- Must be friendly and have a customer service type personality
Covid-19 Safety Precautions:
Habitat for Humanity prioritizes the health and safety of our staff and volunteers. Currently, we have the following guidelines in place (subject to change based on case levels, as well as CDC, state and local guidelines):
- We ask that if you aren't feeling well, to please stay home out of precaution
- Masks are no longer required; however, we welcome and support anyone that chooses to voluntarily wear a mask
- We encourage volunteers and staff to practice social distancing when possible
In addition, we have implemented the following guidelines to help ensure health and safety on the volunteer site:
- Limited sharing of equipment
- Designated individuals to use equipment, to avoid multiple touchpoints
- All tools will be sanitized at the end of the day
