ReStore True Value Merchandise Haul Support Volunteer

Expired

Description

You don't have to pound nails to be part of providing safe, affordable, and decent housing in DuPage County.

ReStore volunteers bring new skills and build capacity to help provide discounted building materials and home goods to the community. DuPage Habitat for Humanity uses funds raised by the ReStore to help families build, rehabilitate and repair homes. By giving your time and talents, you help ReStore do more to support homebuilding projects that benefit families in the area.

True Value is partnering with Habitat ReStore and we need your help to make the most of the partnership! Volunteers will help box up tools, hardware and other merchandise in a closed True Value store that will be packed up and transferred to ReStore.

If you have court-related community service hours to fulfill, please reach out to the Volunteer Manager by calling 630-757-7523 or email mstokes@gohabitat.org. We will not verify any hours completed until after you have been approved.

The minimum age to volunteer is 15 years old. Any volunteer under 17 must be accompanied by an adult 21 years or older. All minors signing up will be prompted to provide their legal guardian's name and email address for a waiver to be sent for them to electronically sign. Once signed, the minor can finish registering for their volunteer shift.

Covid-19 Safety Precautions:

Habitat for Humanity prioritizes the health and safety of our staff and volunteers. Currently, we have the following guidelines in place (subject to change based on case levels, as well as CDC, state, and local guidelines):

  • We ask that if you aren't feeling well, to please stay home out of precaution
  • Masks are no longer required; however, we welcome and support anyone that chooses to voluntarily wear a mask
  • We encourage volunteers and staff to practice social distancing when possible

In addition, we have implemented the following guidelines to help ensure health and safety on the volunteer site:

  • Limited sharing of tools and equipment
  • Designated individuals to use tools and equipment, to avoid multiple touchpoints
  • All tools will be sanitized at the end of the day

All volunteers will be required to schedule through Galaxy Digital 24 hours in advance. If you have any questions, please contact Michala Stokes at mstokes@gohabitat.org.
